Branding

Home / Video / Branding

It’s important that we apply the same visual elements and styles across all our videos. This helps make our brand instantly recognisable as being from us.

Logo

In our external promotional videos we display our logo at the end, on a white background and in the centre of the frame. You can either show this as a static image, or use our animated logo.

There’s no requirement to display our logo throughout a video as a visual watermark.

For the correct use of our logo please follow the guidelines explained in our brand guidelines.

Captions

All our videos must have captions (subtitles) to provide content to people who are deaf and hard-of-hearing. Captions are a synchronised text version of the speech and non-speech audio information needed to understand the content.

We have an approved caption provider available through our Studio Team. Please contact them if you are producing a video that require captions.

Graphics and text

Graphics on our videos allow information to be presented visually and provide added context. Graphics can be images or text.

We use graphics on videos to:

  • Display our logo
  • Show visuals to give context to the video
  • Show links to resources such as our website
  • Display regulatory text

Be careful not to:

  • Place too many graphics on the same scene
  • Place graphics or text over key imagery
  • Use unnecessary graphics that disrupt storytelling use white type over light imagery

To improve accessibility, avoid any graphics or on-screen text that aren’t explained by the narrator or voiceover. Graphics should supplement what is on screen, not replace it.

For more information on this section, we’d recommend reading our video accessibility guidelines. When displaying regulatory text, you should also use a minimum duration of hold which can be calculated at http//doh.clearcast.co.uk.

Colours

Our colour palette allows for a broad range of colour combinations, so it's important to know which of these are accessible and provide a good level of visual contrast.
